Our House: Before

Everyone else is doing it, so why not me?

My husband and I bought our first house in 2007. I was 20 and he was 21. We would not have bought a house for a while, but my husband worked with this guy who inherited the house after his parents had died.  The house had been vacant for a while, there was still the furniture and other stuff in the house when we came and looked at it.  He wanted to get rid of it and asked a fair price.  So we said why not? We were paying someone else's mortgage and weren't getting anything out of it.  My husband is the spur of the moment kind of guy, I was like, seriously babe?, how can we afford a house, we barely can afford groceries?  But we came and looked at it, and I was excited.  I worked at a Real Estate Law Firm, so I knew how the closing process worked.  We got discounts on our Title Insurance and Attorney Fee. So I took it over from there, like I always do. I like to be in control. All we had to come to closing with was $2 and some change.  WOW! Now a days, people are getting money back, but still, it was only $2 out of our pocket. We were homeowners and it felt great!

The house needed a lot of  cosmetic work. Let me show you some pictures.  Now, I'm sure you are all thinking...eww, what in the world was she thinking, seriously?!?...because I was just thinking the same thing as I looked at the pictures again.

Welcome to mi casa! Come on in!

                                                                 Please, have a seat.

Would you like to watch some TV on our beautiful, hand me down, green VERY comfy couch?
No? OK, how about in the dining room? We only have one chair.

Something to drink? Sure, we have some Spaghetti going, would you like some?  But you have to stay in the dining room, because our kitchen is VERY small.

The restroom is down the hall.
I put a fancy curtain up so no one can see you.

Isn't my nephew adorable? and don't you LOVE the wall paper?

The one thing that really sold the house, was the HUGE rooms.  You can't really tell how big they are in the pictures, but trust me. Everyone who comes to our house for the first time, is like Whoa, I had no idea they were this big! Unfortunately, the closets are super small. This one down there actually was built in through the garage. It's kind a tacky, viewing it from the garage, but it holds my stuff!
Wow, what a mess.  I honestly do not live like this at all.  this must have been a spur of the moment photo shoot. Which Im very glad I took pictures, becuase it's crazy how much it's changed.
Follow me, your room is over here aka as the "MAN CAVE"
AKA computer room and scrapbook room.

Another beautiful green coach!

Thank you for touring Mi Casa with me.  I will be posting up the Afters of each room coming soon. Let me just tell you, it looks 100% better and I am actually very embarrassed to show these pictures.  But, I did say I was 20, so really what 20 y.o. has all nice furniture, perfect decor, and the perfect house...? We received alot of our house items from Friends and Family.
Its all about making your house your home and that is what we did!
Stayed tuned!
I love to see your Before's!
